Let's get the ball rolling!
Hello, early birds!
I'm thrilled to announce the first update for our course. It includes the template project for the Level 3 - Development module so you can start to tool and toy with it and get familiar with things before we get into the real deal! 🎉
What's New?
This update includes a robust template project packed with features to kickstart our platformer game development journey. Here's what you can expect:
- Advanced Player Movement: Our template comes with smooth and responsive player controls, including wall jumping mechanics.
- Enemies: Challenge your players with a variety of enemies.
- Collectibles: Items like diamonds and hearts are included to add layers of depth to your game and fulfill the incentive systems requirements.
- User Interface: A polished interface to display score, lives count, and more.
- Loot Boxes: Add excitement with loot boxes that players can open for rewards.
- Template Level: A Level scene that will serve as the base to build dozens of new levels.
- Platforms of All Sorts: Well, it's a platformer game after all, isn't it? Moving, static, and path-follow platforms included!
- Input Configuration Menu: Allow players to customize your game's controls with ease.
Course Content
To complement the template project, I've also created a document explaining the folder structure of the project. This guide dives into how I organize things and the reasoning behind this specific structure. You'll learn what typically goes into each folder, making it easier to manage your game development process. This will help you design your own folder structure and organize your files for future projects. It's a necessary content that people typically ask around the internet but usually gets brushed off in courses!
Moving Forward
Although this is a small and initial step, we're getting the ball rolling, and there's so much more to come. I can't wait to get into talking about how to implement these project features and bring our platformer game to life. Your journey to creating amazing games is just beginning, and I'm here to support you every step of the way.
That's it, thank you so much for your support. Keep developing and until the next time!
- Henrique Campos
